Basketball's Steve Nash Announces Divorce After Son's Birth

Phoenix Suns star point guard Steve Nash, a two-time NBA most valuable player, announced that he and wife Alejandra Nash are calling it quits, the Associated Press reported. The timing was a bit awkward, though, since he announced the news one day after the birth of their third son, Matteo.

The basketball star said in a statement that he and Alejandra Nash have been living apart for several months, so at least it’s not a surprise to her.

He said in the statement that they’re committed to raising their kids “in the most positive, nurturing way possible,” although not under the same roof:

“I’m focused on ensuring that our children understand how much they’re adored and loved by us as they continue to adjust to these changes. I would ask that their privacy, and ours as a family, be respected as we move forward. This will be my only statement on this.”

Together for nine years and married since 2005, the Nashes have 6-year-old twin daughters as well, Lola and Bella. Perhaps we’ll never know the details of the divorce settlement, since it appears they want their privacy.

Steve Nash earns a comfortable annual salary of $12.5 million according to Inside Hoops, plus untold millions from product endorsements, so it’s fair to assume his soon-to-be ex and three children will be taken care of.Atlanta divorce lawyers can help you better understand how divorce settlements typically work.

He denied rumors of an affair with singer Nelly Furtado in 2006, who dropped his name in her hit song “Promiscuous,” according to the Daily Mail:

“Is that the truth or are you talkin’ trash? Is your game MVP like Steve Nash?”

But you don’t have to be an MVP to get all-star representation by a Georgia family law attorney.
